Albert Lee Smith's Obituary
Albert Lee Smith “Love”, was born to Arthur and Thelma Smith on February 23, 1939, in Washington, DC, and was the third of five children. His four siblings (in order) being: Rudolph, Statford, Gloria, and Glenda.
In 1964, Albert married his wife, Bessie, in her hometown of Covington, Georgia. Their union was blessed with five children: Albert, Jr. (deceased), Cheryl, Eric, Shawn, and Michael. In 1983, Albert joined Ebenezer AME Church. He had a great voice and enjoyed singing in the Chancel Choir for many years.
Albert worked at Ingall Steel before entering the federal government as a heating and air-conditioning technician with the General Services Administration. While juggling a full-time job and family obligations, he worked hard, studied for, and earned his GED. He was a hard worker who believed in the importance of education and was a lifelong learner who loved reading history books and watching documentaries. After over 30 years in the government, Albert retired in 1996 and started his own cleaning business.
Albert lived a full life filled with love, music, laughter, and generosity. He loved singing, being near the water, and was known for his warm smile and kind heart, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a comical story. His passion for learning, history, and entrepreneurship inspired those around him and left a lasting impact on his family.
Albert has found eternal peace alongside his parents, Arthur and Thelma Smith; his son, Albert Jr.; and his siblings, Rudolph Smith, Statford Smith, Glenda Jones, and Gloria Batey.
Left to cherish his memory are: wife Bessie Smith; children, Cheryl Denby, Eric Smith, Shawn Smith, and Michael Smith; four grandchildren: LaMiya McWhite, Harry W Denby(Trey), III, Eric K Smith, and Kiara Smith; one great-grandchild: Journee McWhite; two sisters-in-law: Flora Smith(Statford) and Carolyn Howard; two special cousins: Carolyn Russell and Sharon Bocar; and a host of cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He took great pride in his family and cherished every moment spent with them, imparting wisdom and love that will be carried on through generations.
