Edna Jean Robertson-Coltrane's Obituary
With deep love and gratitude for a life well lived, we celebrate the memory of Edna Jean Robertson-Coltrane,who peacefully departed this life on February 14, 2025 at the age of 85. Edna was a woman of strength, warmth and unwavering care for her family and all who came to know and love her. Born on February 9, 1940 in Washington D.C. to the late James Robertson and Lula Yeldell-Robertson.
She was also preceded in death by her devoted husband Carlton "Coddy" Coltrane 2 of her daughters LaWanda Lane and Debra Robertson-Williams 1 son Ricky Robertson and her precious granddaughter Charlita Robertson. She was reunited in peace with her siblings James Robertson, Eugene Robertson, Edward Robertson, Joseph Robertson, Ann Allen and Helena Dawson.
Edna received her education through the D.C. public school system and later working as a CNA alongside her mother Lula. Edna was a diehard Redskins fan who loved to cook and care for her family. She was a devoted caregiver always opening her heart and home to those in need whether you needed a meal a babysitter or a place to stay she was there. However, Edna wouldn't be herself without a feisty comeback her favorite being " I pay's the cost to be the boss" even though she never had to remind us because we knew she was the boss.
Her legacy is one of compassion, strength , and unconditional love whether nurturing her children, guiding her grandchildren, and great grandchildren or extending kindness to nieces, nephews, and friends. She left a mark on everyone she knew. She is lovingly remembered by her children: Antonio Robertson, Edwina Robertson-Wrighten, Delmon Robertson and Carleta Bassett. 3 daughters-in-law Vanessa Robertson, Frances Robertson, and proceeded in death Francine Lane. 4 sons-in-law Carlton Lane, Andre Bassett Sr, David Williams and James Wrighten. 30 grandchildren, 1 grandson Joseph Robertson of the home whom helped care for her. 44 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren, 2 devoted sisters, Elizabeth Robertson and Debra Robertson. 2 beloved aunts, Juanita Yeldell- Williams and Josephine Yeldell. Her love and support extended to Felicia Tate and Joseph Herndon who held special places in her heart as daughter and son along with her nieces, nephews and cousins all of whom were blessed to have known her.
