Eliza Beatrice Walker's Obituary
Eliza Beatrice Walker, lovingly known as “Snook,” departed this
life on April 17, 2026, at the age of 79. She was born on March
1, 1947, in Concord, North Carolina, and later made her home
in District Heights, Maryland.
Eliza was a devoted mother to four children, a proud
grandmother to ten grandchildren, and a cherished great-
grandmother to thirteen great-grandchildren. Her family was
the center of her world, and she poured her love, wisdom, and
strength into each generation.
A woman of remarkable dedication and work ethic, Eliza
continued working faithfully until the age of 79 with the
Architect of the Capitol. She was well known around the
Senate building not only for her professionalism, but also for her
delicious homemade cakes and pies and her trusted home
remedies. Her sweet treats and warm spirit left a lasting
impression on everyone she encountered.
Eliza was a faithful member of Vision Church, where she served
as a prayer partner and a steady source of godly wisdom. She
was known as a solid advice giver—someone who listened
without judgment and prayed without ceasing. Many sought
her counsel, and she gave it freely, always grounded in faith
and love.
In 2017, she became a published author, sharing her wisdom in
her book, Mothers Wits from the Past. Through her writing, she
preserved timeless lessons and practical guidance that will
continue to bless others for generations to come.
Eliza “Snook” Walker will be remembered for her unwavering
faith, her nurturing spirit, her sharp wisdom, and her famous
cakes that brought comfort and joy to so many. Her legacy
lives on through her family, her faith, her words, and the
countless lives she touched.
She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
