From Members of Potomac River Baptist Church
Never say goodbye, Sister Hilda. Simply and truly see you later in the Lord’s House in heaven.
As our first lady of Potomac River Baptist Church, you served us with dignity, grace, and humility. Our hearts are very heavy as we ponder your absence. From Lynnalan Community Center to our final worship location at Hickory Drive, we remained a close church “family.” Your love for us, the congregation, showed in all your deeds of service. Our home church was always immaculate both inside and outside and our beloved pastor, the late Franklin Delano Roosevelt Dixon, would glow with admiration. At every service he acknowledged you as his beautiful, virtuous wife and helpmate.
You adorned our sanctuary with green palm plants placed in large pots at the sunny picture window. Outside, you planted an array of seasonal flowers, which accented the colorful wrapping and wreath on the front door. As if that wasn’t enough to welcome us, you laid a red carpet at the entrance of the sanctuary lined with photographs of Members. You recognized our birthdays with gifts and regularly spoiled the children with treats.
Your knowledge of the book of Genesis to the book of Revelations was freely shared at Sunday school, various planned and ad-hoc teaching sessions. You visited us and cared for us at times of grief and sickness. Your neighbors were also blessed by your generous benevolence.
Thank you. Thank you, our dearly beloved First Lady Hilda Bermadene Dixon. Your heavenly mansion, crowns, rewards, and new secret name are waiting for you in the Lord’s House!!!
Now unto Him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you flawless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, to the only wise God our Savior, be glory, majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever. Amen Jude 25 KJV
