Born July 30, 1987, Jariel was a proud product of the Prince George’s County Public School System. He graduated in 2005 from Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Greenbelt, Maryland, where his kind spirit and natural curiosity were already evident to all who knew him.
Jariel’s professional journey began with the Montgomery County Board of Elections as an Election Technician, an experience that ignited his deep passion for technology. That spark would grow into an impressive and evolving career in the information technology field. From early roles as a Network Technician and Engineer to senior positions like Network Operations Manager at General Dynamics Information Technology, Jariel’s career trajectory spoke volumes about his dedication, resilience, and hunger for learning. He worked on critical IT systems across esteemed institutions such as George Washington University, American Systems, Ciena, and Comcast, becoming a respected figure in the networking and security space.
Despite the complex and demanding nature of his work, Jariel never wavered in his commitment to excellence and integrity.
Outside the world of IT, Jariel’s true purpose was rooted in family and connection. He was a proud and loving husband and a doting father to four beautiful children. He beamed with pride in their presence and worked tirelessly to provide a life filled with love and opportunity.
Jariel had a magnetic personality that drew people in. His laughter was infectious, his wisdom was quiet yet profound, and his heart was always generous. Whether offering tech advice, lending a helping hand, or simply lighting up a room with his radiant smile, Jariel made those around him feel seen, heard, and valued. He was the type of man who made you feel at home, even if you were meeting him for the first time.
He leaves behind his devoted wife, Brittany Young (Collins); his cherished children, Jailynn Young, Brielle Young, Bayleigh Young, and Jariel Donovan Young Jr.; his loving parents, J.D. and Frances Young; his younger brother, Keenan Young (Kimyatta); his beloved nieces, Kimani Young and Kinaya Young, and his maternal grandmother, Eliza Walker. In addition, he is survived by a large and loving extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and a wide circle of dear friends and colleagues who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.
Jariel’s life was a gift to all who knew him, and his legacy of love, leadership, and loyalty will live on forever in the hearts he touched.
