Marcel Bernard Dixon's Obituary
Marcel Bernard Dixon, 49, of District Heights, MD, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2025. He was born on August 17, 1975, in Washington, D.C., to Minister Frances Dixon and the late Clevester Dixon. Marcel was also preceded in death by his brother, Wesley Dixon.
Marcel was a devoted father to his loving and beautiful daughter, Janiya Dixon, whom he adored deeply.
He proudly called Seat Pleasant, Maryland home and was a 1993 graduate of Crossland High School. Marcel went on to attend Morgan State University on a football scholarship, where he studied and played for three years. He was widely known for his kind heart, infectious sense of humor, and unwavering love for sports—especially football. A faithful Dallas Cowboys fan, Marcel could often be found watching the game, playing on his PlayStation 5, or shopping for the latest clothes and sneakers.
Marcel gave his life to Christ at an early age and was baptized at Jericho Baptist Church. He remained a man of quiet faith throughout his life.
Professionally, Marcel was dedicated and hard-working. He served with distinction at the District of Columbia Department of Motor Vehicles for 19 years, holding various positions throughout his tenure.
Marcel is survived by his loving mother, Minister Frances Dixon of Capitol Heights, MD; his beloved daughter, Janiya Dixon of Capitol Heights, MD; his brothers, Andre Dixon of Laurel, MD, and Aaron Dixon (Jasmine) of Woodbridge, VA; and his nephews, Aaro and Aadyn Dixon of Woodbridge, VA. He also leaves behind a host of family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Marcel’s legacy of love, laughter, and loyalty lives on in the hearts of all who knew him.
