Maurice Davis' Obituary
With heavy hearts and deep love, we share the passing of
Maurice Davis, who left us on March 31, 2025, at the age of 61.
Born on March 19, 1964, Maurice came into this world full of life
and he left it with peace and a smile, letting us know it was
time. His final moments were gentle, and we believe he was
ready to be reunited with his dear mother, Clara Mae Davis,
whom he missed so deeply. Maurice had a big personality and an even bigger heart. As a
kid, he was full of energy - he loved boxing, Atari games, and
anything that brought fun and excitement. He carried that
same energy into adulthood, always bringing laughter, jokes,
and a certain spark into every room. He graduated from H.D. Woodson High School, where he
studied auto body mechanics -skills he turned into a dedicated
career. Maurice was known for his hands - on talent in the auto
body industry and his strong work ethic. Later in life, he found
joy behind the wheel, driving tractor trailers and loving the
freedom that came with the open road.
Maurice was far from perfect - but he was perfectly lovable. He
was honest, funny, loyal, and incredibly real. He made people
feel like family, even if you’d just met him. As a father, brother,
uncle, and friend, he gave all he had-and then some.
He leaves behind his loving son, Markel McKnight; his big
brother, James Davis of Brandywine, Maryland; his sister,
Malinda Jones of Fort Washington, Maryland; his youngest
sister, Aleatha Davis-Knight of Washington, DC; and his
brothers, William Jones Jr. and Gregory Jones. Maurice was
also deeply loved by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and
friends who will miss him dearly.
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who
are crushed in spirit.” -Psalm 34:18
