Octavia A Jones' Obituary
Octavia Angela Jones was born on September 29, 1986, in Washington, DC, to Lisa Jones and Tyrone Vest. She departed this life on January 31, 2026, at the age of 39.
Born and raised in Washington, DC, Octavia was educated in the DC Public School system, graduating from Elliott Junior High School and Spingarn High School. She later built a career she was proud of as an Administrative Assistant for Alexandria City Public Schools in Virginia. Securing her permanent position was a meaningful accomplishment and reflected her dedication and strong work ethic.
Affectionately known as "Tae," Octavia was humble, thoughtful, and a natural peacemaker. She had a warm heart, a forgiving spirit, and a joyful personality that made her unforgettable. She was a good listener who showed love through communication, encouragement, and affirmation. She believed in talking things out and giving people second chances. Her laughter, bright and contagious, will be deeply missed.
Above all, Octavia cherished her children. They were the center of her world. She valued providing stability for them and constantly reminded them how much they were loved. Her children confided in her about everything. They talked to her about their trials, tribulations, and everyday life. They will miss gossiping with her, getting her advice, and simply being able to tell her anything. She was their protector, provider, and biggest cheerleader, always giving compliments and encouraging them to be independent, communicate openly, and look out for one another.
Octavia also shared an especially close bond with her mother, Lisa. They talked often and about everything. Their relationship was rooted in love, honesty, and constant communication. That closeness was a source of strength and comfort for her throughout her life.
She was immensely proud of her father and his accomplishments before his passing and carried his support with her always.
Octavia had a vibrant and entertaining personality. She was funny, talkative, and
wonderfully goofy without even trying to be. She loved rap and trap music,
enjoyed conversations about God and even conspiracy theories, and never
hesitated to make her point known. Crazy conversations made her laugh, and
connecting through communication was one of the ways she expressed love.
Lavender was her favorite color, soft yet bold, much like her spirit. She loved
shopping, spending time outdoors, traveling with family, and going out to eat. She
always knew the best restaurants and happily shared her recommendations.
Traveling made her light up, and time spent with family on vacation meant
everything to her.
Those who knew Octavia describe her as having a good spirit and a warm heart.
She was dedicated to her job and to the children she served. She positively
affected everyone she came into contact with and did not have the ability to stay
mad at anyone for long. She truly had a forgiving heart.
Octavia leaves behind a legacy of joy, laughter, open communication, and
unconditional love. Her spirit will live on through her children, her family, and all
those whose lives she touched.
Octavia was preceded in death by her father, Tyrone Vest, and her grandfather,
Lawrence Jones and grandmother Dorthy Vest. She leaves to cherish her memory
her loving children, London Diggs, Jordon Diggs, Madison Stringfellow, and
Jerrell Stringfellow Jr .; her devoted mother, Lisa Jones, and stepfather, James
Brown; her siblings, Garcia King, Tyrone Vest Jr., Hope Vest, Joy Vest, Goldie Vest,
and Draci Carroll; her grandmother, Claudann Williams & grandfather Ivie Dixon;
her cherished childhood friend, Nicole Williams; and a host of cousins, aunts,
uncles, and friends.
