Sheryl Deette Tibbs Young's Obituary
Sheryl Deette Tibbs Young departed this life on September 3, 2025. She was born in Washington, DC on October 5, 1982 to Wienfield Tibbs and LaVerne Younger Tibbs.
Sheryl accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized at Kent Baptist Church, Landover, MD. She received her formal education in the Prince Georges County Public School system and graduated from Bladensburg High School. She furthered her studies, receiving her Bachelor’s Degree from Towson University where she became a member of Alpha Nu Omega Inc. She also received Master Degrees from Towson University and The University of Maryland Global College. Upon completing her studies, she was employed with the Arlington County Department of Human Services and the Department of Veterans Affairs.
On August 3, 2021, she was united in Holy Matrimony to Rodney J. Young and to that union they shared a son, Matthew Luther Young.
She is survived by her husband Rodney and children, Tarihji, Matthew and William; mother LaVerne Younger Tibbs; father Wienfield (Estella) Tibbs, Sr., sister Denea Younger (Antoine “Tony” Swilling), brothers Derrick Younger, Wienfield Tibbs, Jr. and Michael (LaToya) Tibbs, brothers-in-laws, Jermaine Clinton, Dewitt Clinton and Darrell Clinton, sister-in-law, Shantese (Andre) Bonner and a host of family and friends.
