Talmadge George's Obituary
Deacon Talmadge George of Temple Hills, Maryland, peacefully departed this life on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on October 15, 1934, in Telmore, Georgia, to the late Elery and Cleo George. He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Andre George, Sr., and his brothers, Memphis George, Leroy George, and Willie George.
Deacon George received his early education in Telmore, Georgia. As a young man, he proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he honorably served his country for 30 years before retiring. His military career reflected his discipline, dedication, and unwavering commitment to service.
In his youth, he was a member of Church of Christ Written In Heaven in Waycross, Georgia. In January 1985, he was baptized at New Samaritan Baptist Church, where he faithfully served for many years. He worked diligently on the Usher Board, Treasurer and Trustee Board before being ordained as a Deacon. In his role as Deacon, he exemplified humility, leadership, and a steadfast faith in God, always ready to serve his church and community.
After retirement, Deacon George found joy in bowling, cooking, gardening, and doing projects around his home. He was especially known for his joy of Landscaping for family, neighbors and friends. He had a deep love for his family and extended that same warmth and kindness to everyone he encountered.
He leaves to cherish his precious memory his wife, Louise George; his children, Philip George, Sr. (Prussia) and Rosalyn George; and his stepchildren, Yvonne Smith, Frank Williams (Linda), Deborah Washington (Rodney), and Ernest Peoples (Patrice).
He is also survived by his grandchildren: Jasmine George, Kiera Robinson, Andre George II (Zorana), Philip George Jr. (Ebony), Tyler George, Isaiah George, Tyriese Robinson, and Thurman Robinson; and his step-grandchildren: Rhonda Keye (Meshach), Ronald Smith Jr., Patrice Peoples, Ebony Washington, Samantha Peoples, Ernest Peoples Jr., and Dontay Banks.
Deacon George was further blessed with three great-grandchildren: Andre George III, Amara George, and Philip George III.
He also leaves behind his cousin, Fred Smith (JoAnn), along with a host of nieces and nephews including Cleo Reynolds, Geri Scott, Linda Moody (Ricky), Glenn George (Marlene), Barry George, Alban George, Elery George, and many others who loved him dearly.
Deacon Talmadge George’s life was a testament to faith, service, love, and generosity. His legacy will live on through the many lives he touched, and he will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
