Tessie Bradley's Obituary
Tessie Audrey Bradley was born on October 31, 1945 in Greenville, SC to the late William Oliver Johnson and Emily Barton. She peacefully departed this life on March 29, 2025 at Bridge Point National Harbor located in Washington, DC. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Emma Bradley; one grandson, Randolph Johnson; and one brother, William Oliver Johnson Jr.
Tessie transitioned from South Carolina to Washington, DC at a very early age. She was educated by the District of Columbia Public School system and graduated from Mary Martha Washington High School. It was during her high school years where she developed her love of cooking. She took that passion for food and her love of cooking to the District of Columbia Public School system, where she worked as the head cook in the cafeteria for many years.
Tessie will be remembered as a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister to her family. She is survived by her daughters Rita Boykin (Kenneth Boykin), Sandra Bradley, and Desiree Penny; one son Charles Penny (Chinyere Monroe-Penny); one brother Michael Johnson; 23 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
