Zachary Tod Hall's Obituary
Zachary (Zack) Tod Hall was born on January 3, 1962, in Washington DC to the late Willie and Nancy Hall. After several health challenges, he departed this life peacefully on March 28, 2026, at George Washington University Hospital in Washington, DC.
He grew up in the Shipley Terrace community in Southeast DC where he was loved by all. Zack had a good spirit and was known for lending a helping hand whenever/wherever needed. Although he was attacked and shot 10 times in Shipley Terrace and lived to talk about it, Zack recovered and lived with a bullet lodged on his spine. The injury did not stop his love for life and commitment to the people and his community. He couldn’t wait for the annual Shipley Terrace picnics.
Zack was quite intelligent with an amazing memory. If he met you once, your name was forever planted in his memory of life experiences. He attended DC public schools, as well as Randolph Macon Military Academy, Front Royal, VA.
Zack was a man with many interests. He was an artist who loved expressing himself through drawings, reflecting visions from his heart. He was fond of the great outdoors and captured the beauty of God’s work in his drawings. He also designed abstract art pieces that were simply beautiful.
He was a sports fanatic. Whether collegiate, professional, baseball, golf, football, soccer, professional fights, he appreciated all sports. His awesome memory served him well and he could recall each player’s information like they were personal friends. Game statistics were second nature to Zack.
Family meant the world to Zack. He loved being the baby brother of three sisters and was a proud uncle, great uncle and great great uncle. He would not miss an opportunity to spend time with the family during holidays, special gatherings or just hanging out.
Zack dedicated his life to the Lord. He was an active member at the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Southeast DC and especially enjoyed participating in Brothers
Club activities and the Resurrection Power and Deliverance Center. He played the Harmonica on Sundays during worship service. Zack experienced joy serving through the Music Ministry of the church. He simply loved playing and using his self-taught talent on the Harmonica to Praise the Lord.
Zack was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Nancy Hall, brother Reginald D. Hall, and sister Albertha H. Tandy.
He is survived by three sisters, Dorothea Timeyin, Marcia Hall Coates (James), Robbin Hall Pierce (Floyd), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and spiritual brothers and sisters. He valued his bond with George Pitt and Deb Coates and his special friendship with Bettie Blount (Miss Bettie).
